Curiouser and Curiouser

New York is a strange social space. Let me start by saying it's a thousand times better than Los Angeles, so I'm already better off here. But I've been here for a little over three months now, and I feel like a stranger in a strange land.

I guess I am still a stranger in a strange land, as three months is hardly long enough to call myself a native. But really, who else here is a native? The people I come in contact with at FAO are almost all tourists. The people I come in contact with in theater all moved here to be actors/dancers/theatermakers just like me. I would venture to guess that the only people I meet who were born and raised here are probably my neighbors here in Washington Heights/Harlem, possibly some of the FAO employees that I hardly ever get to talk to. Certainly no one in my department with the Muppets is from here.

It's also the first time in my life that I'm living in a large city and most of the people around my age that I'm meeting either through plays, auditions, work, or out and about in the world are a few years younger than I am. My 24 years put me at the older end of the groups in Cato, at Lion King, and at FAO. I went to a Dr. Dog concert last night and looked around thinking, "is everyone here twelve?"
