Partially to refresh my lines for tomorrow night's show after two days off, and partially to practice my puppeteering skills for ongoing Muppeteering, I tried going through all my Cato lines while syncing my hands. I could only get through two scenes, my wrists are killing me.
I'm also trying to figure out how to economize syllables. Whereas my mouth opens three times to say "sill-ah-buhls," my hand just starts to look like it's going "blablabla" if I try to open my hand for every syllable, so it doesn't look like it's saying the word and carpal tunnel syndrome looms ever nearer. My mouth might go "sill-ah-buhls," but my hand only looks like it's talking if it goes "sill...buhls."
So you can imagine the kind of trouble I'm having with "his fond complaints/have so much earnestness and passion in them/I hear him with a secret kind of horror/and tremble at his vehemence of temper." I'm gonna need some practice. And a wrist brace.
