There was something I wanted to have happen, but I can't remember if I ever went through with putting that in motion, but now it has happened, possibly of its own accord, and I can't seem to find any evidence that I had anything to do with it.
Back in SF, I worked with a group called Sleepwalkers. I was excited about their mission and their vibe and I wanted them to do really well.
Here in New York, I worked at the Flea and with Sticky, and met a gal named Jane Elliott, who has also worked at the Flea and with Sticky.
The last Sticky I did, I was in something directed by Jane and witnessed another piece starring other Bats and written by Jane's brother, Colin. This piece made me laugh so hard, I hurt my lungs and had a cough for a few days following. It not only starred fellow Bats, it was about a drinking contest between Lex Luthor and Clark Kent, so you know it endeared itself to me personally from the get-go.
I learned that brother Colin lived in San Francisco.
Later I made the association that hey, brilliant playwright and hey, theater company that seeks out and encourages and fosters and nurtures and other verbs as well new playwrights are in the same town, and even though I've never met the playwright and I haven't had anything to do with the theater company in three years, I should get them hooked up.
I SEEM to remember asking Jane for her brother's contact info so I could email him something to the effect that he should look up Sleepwalkers.
I SEEM to remember either emailing him or facebook messaging him even though we are not facebook friends.
But I can't remember if I actually did or not, and I can't find any archived emails or messages that would suggest I ever did.
But recently when I was browsing Sleepwalkers' website to see what they're up to (and found that Nathan Greene, for whom I have great admiration and love as a human being, is now associated with them through completely independent means as I had nothing to do with it), I saw in their "write a play write now god fucking dammit" section that the most recent play was written by one Colin Elliott.
Did I do it? Or did fate and the fact that SF is artistically a tiny town ensure that it happened?
I'm sure it doesn't matter as long as it happened...but I really want to take credit for any future collaborations between them.
